New EU Overwatch eSports Tournament Announced

While there are a fair amount of eSports events for Overwatch that include multiple regions, there hasn’t been many EU Overwatch eSports tournament events lined up. Until now, that is. The Overwatch Pit Championship has been announced, bringing a $15k prize pool for European eSports players.

The Overwatch Pit Championship is two separate events – one for North America and one for Europe – each with their own $15k prize pool and no inter-regional play. Two groups of six teams will battle in round-robin best-of-three matches to determine who will make it to the final, with the top four squaring off in single elimination.

The event is already slated to offer up premier eSports orgs from the region including Team Dignitas and Misfits. Other EU teams set to compete include Movistar Riders, eUnited, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Gamers Origins and more.

The Overwatch Pit Championship is a completely online event, and European teams interested in registering can do so over at Battlefly. The first matches are set to play this Wednesday, March 15th, at 6 pm CET.

Our Thoughts

We’re sure there are a lot of European Overwatch eSports fans who would love to see the teams from their region find out who’s the best among them, and frankly so are we! While inter-regional events are a great time, sometimes it’s best to know which eSports groups are the best among themselves.
